The River Soar

A legend told by Geoffrey of Monmouth, claims that the eponymous King Leir was buried in an underground chamber beneath the river, near to Leicester. Today, the river is monitored by the Environment Agency, as tourism (barges and propellers) causes turbulence that uproots plants and reduces the amount of light that reaches into its depths.
